Czech police arrest five people suspected of terrorism in Eastern Ukraine
Police units from the National Centre for the Combating of Organised Crime (NCOZ) have arrested five people who are suspected of taking part in the fighting in the east of Ukraine on the side of the separatist Donetsk People’s Republic, or at least of organising and preparing such actions. The information was released on Wednesday on the website of the Chief Prosecutor’s Office in Prague. None of the suspects have been charged yet.
The arrests were made across various parts of the country and Czech police have already ruled out that there is any connection to the explosion in the Vrbětice munitions storage facility in 2014.
According to information published by the magazine Respekt and news site Aktuálně.cz, the suspects are all Czech and members of paramilitary groups, who organised trips for Czech citizens to the Ukraine in order to fight on the seperatist side.
