Smartwings seeks CZK 500mn in compensation for cancelled spring 2020 flights
Smartwings Group, whose holdings include national carrier Czech Airlines, is seeking half a billion crowns in compensation for flights cancelled due to anti-coronavirus measures last spring. Airlines are currently under a protective moratorium against creditors that expires at the end of February.
According to the company, the group had to cancel about 7,000 flights booked by 900,000 passengers. Smartwings co-owner Jiří Šimáně argues airlines should get the same level of support as did hoteliers, restaurants, ski resorts and other services.
