Award-winning Czech singer-songwriter David Stypka dies aged 41

David Stypka, who won the prestigious Anděl Music Award for best Solo Artist in 2017, died on Saturday aged 41. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a year ago and had contracted Covid-19, the recording company SinglTon told ČTK.

Stypka had worked as a journalist and graphic artist before making it big with the band Bandjeez. His 2017 album Neboj (Don’t be afraid) and a song from it he performed with singer Eva Farna were also nominated for Anděl Music Award, the Czech equivalent of the Grammy.
