Czech Radio Orchestra begins 94th season under baton of Alexander Liebreich
The Czech Radio Orchestra begins its 94th season this Friday with a concert at the Rudolfinum Palace in Prague under the baton of conductor Alexander Liebreich.
Due to the uptick in Covid-19 cases, the orchestra has changed the program to reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus. Instead of Luwig van Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and Ode to Joy, his Symphony No. 1 in C major was included, as it requires fewer musicians.
The concert will begin with the composition Meditación by Toshio Hosokawa, dedicated to the thousands of victims of the earthquake and tsunami caused by the Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster in March 2011.
