Febiofest film festival gets underway
The 27th edition of Prague film festival Febiofest gets underway on Friday evening. The event will open with a documentary about Karel Gott by Olga Malířová Špátová, which captures the late singer on tour at home and abroad.
This year’s Kristián awards for contribution to cinema, handed out at the opening ceremony, will go to actors Iva Janžurová and Milan Lasica. The festival will also pay a tribute to director Jiří Menzel, who died recently at the age of 82.
The festival was due to take place in the spring but was postponed because of the coronavirus outbreak. Visitors to the festival will be required to wear face masks and observe safe distances in the screening halls.
The popular film showcase will run at Cinema City Slovanský Dům and several other venues in Prague until September 25, before moving on to other towns and cities in the Czech Republic.
