Jaroslav Kubera’s widow rejects state award for her late husband from president
Věra Kuberová, the widow of the late Senate speaker Jaroslav Kubera who recently died in office, has refused to accept a state award for her husband from President Miloš Zeman, the ctk news agency reported.
In an interview for the news site Seznam.cz Ms. Kuberová said her husband would not have wished to receive it.
Mr. Kubera clashed with the president over his planned visit to Taiwan and died of a heart attack before he could undertake it. According to his family and co-workers he came under severe pressure from the president and the Chinese embassy in Prague who tried to dissuade him from the trip.
