Flood alerts still in place in some parts of Czechia

Persistent rain continues to swell rivers in some parts of the Czech Republic. Flood alert is in place in villages and towns in the mountain regions of north Bohemia, in the Chrudim region in the east of the country and in some parts of Moravia-Silesia.

Fire-officers have responded to hundreds of calls in the past two days, pumping rainwater from cellars, removing fallen trees and placing bags of sand along the embankments.
