Zeman to attend government talks and vote on budget deficit

President Miloš Zeman will attend a government discussion about the state budget deficit and a session of the Chamber of Deputies dedicated to it, a spokesperson for the head of state said. A team of experts working for Mr. Zeman will also hold a meeting attended by Prime Minister Andrej Babiš to discuss the cabinet’s plan for a record CZK 500 billion deficit for this year.

The minister of finance, Alena Schillerová, said the lower house debate would likely take place on Wednesday next week. The planned budget deficit before the coronavirus crisis began was CZK 40 billion.
