Czech killed by avalanche in French Alps

A 30-year-old Czech was killed by an avalanche on Tuesday while skiing off piste in the French Alps, in the area of Saint-Colomban-des-Villards. The man was killed despite wearing an avalanche airbag. Another victim was a 37-year old Spaniard. Heavy snow in recent days combined with strong wind are reported to have triggered a number of avalanches in the French mountains.
