17 Central European heads of state gathered in Salzburg this week with a very resonant agenda - "Beyond Enlargement - the Future of Central Europe in the larger Europe" was their rallying point. They've been taking stock of the past, sketching out the new, political situation in the heart of the Continent, and discussing developments in Central Europe resulting from EU enlargement. In this week's program, we'll look at some of these developments and hear about the issues that've been dominating the summit.

In this week's program, we'll look at some of these developments and hear about the issues that've been dominating the summit.

Slovaks last week voted overwhelmingly to join the European Union. Over 90 percent of voters said yes although only 52% of voters took part in the poll, narrowly passing the 50% threshold required by law. We looks at what's still to be done before official membership in May next year.

The first Roma rights lobby group to base itself in the EU heartland has just opened an office in Brussels. We hear about what the Roma Information office hopes to achieve.

And: The former president of Slovenia, Milan Kucan, has been trading accusations about the collapse of the former Yugoslavia with his one-time colleague, war crimes suspect Slobodan Milosevic.
