In sports: Sparta have failed to clinch league title after the game was called off. The Czech Republic upset Australia at the tennis World Team Cup. Kenyan pair win the Prague International Marathon. And Patrick Elias added a goal and an assist for the New Jersey in NHL playoff action.

Sparta failed to clinch title after game called off

A match between Prague rivals Sparta Prague and Bohemians Prague was called off in the 73rd minute after fans attacked a linesman. Trouble started after Martin Zboncak scored in the 71st minute to give Sparta the lead. Some fans were angry that an offside was not called on the play, then a fan jumped onto the field and attacked a linesman, prompting the referee to call off the game. Sparta were leading 2-1 and if they will be awarded the match then the team will clinch the Gambrinus league title for the eighth time in ten years. Bohemians Prague are on the opposite side of the league, with only 21 points the team faces deregulation.

In other football action Slavia remain in second place after beating Blsany 2-1. The Prague club's away victory ends a more then a five and half hour goal drought at Blsany. Zikov remain in third place after they tied Brno 1-1. Olomouc hammered Ceske Budejovice 4-2. Finally, 2nd league Pilsen will enter the first league next season after they beat Prostejov 3-0 to win the second league title.

Czech Republic upsets Australia at the tennis World Team Cup

The Czech Republic upset Australia at the World Team Cup in Duesseldorf, Germany over the weekend. Although the Czech Republic's Jiri Novak was defeated by world number one Lleyton Hewitt 6-3, 6-2. Radek Stepanek defeated Wayne Arthurs 7-6, 6-3. The Czech pair went on to defeat their Australian counterparts in doubles action 6-4, 6-4.

Kenyan pair win Prague International Marathon

William Cheruiyot of Kenya won the 42 Km Prague International Marathon in two hours, eleven minutes, and fifty-six seconds. Fellow Kenyan Anne Kibor won the women's division in two hours and thirty one minutes. Jan Blaha of the Czech Republic came in 8th place with a time of just over two hours and twenty two minutes.

Patrick Elias adds goal and assist for New Jersey in NHL playoff action

Patrick Elias added a goal and an assist as the New Jersey Devil's stepped on the Ottawa Senators 5-2. New Jersey is up 3-1 in the series, the winner will face the surprising Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the Stanley Cup final, they thrashed the Minnesota Wild in four games.
