Prague youth given chance to question world around them
A presentation on the elimination of racism, xenophobia and youth crime was held on Thursday for more than a hundred Prague teenagers. After a short film, special guests, including the United Nations Human Rights Commissioner on former Yugoslavia, Jiri Dienstbier, and the Israeli ambassador to Prague, Erella Hadar, addressed questions on these problems from the audience. This was a unique opportunity for some of Prague's teenagers to ask serious questions on the subject of racism, xenophobia and youth crime. Although the presentation's main aim was the elimination of these problems in the Czech Republic, the concerns of the youths present were broad-ranging, and included the current situation in the Middle East, and the future of former Yugoslavia. The questions were intelligent, well prepared, and demonstrated the concerns these young people hold for the world around them.
