Thousands gather in Prague in support of rebel journalists
Wednesday's dramatic events culminated with demonstrations backing the rebel TV journalists. They were held in the towns of Brno and Ostrava, where Czech public television has its regional offices, but the biggest demonstration was on Prague's Wenceslas Square. Olga Szantova was there.
The huge square was crowded with up to 100.000 demonstrators, some of them holding up hand painted signs.
Many of the protestors were young people, and I asked a few of them why they had decided to participate in the demonstration.
But not all the participants were young. Many took part in demonstrations in 1989, also on Wenceslas Square, demonstrations that led to the fall of the communist regime. Why had they come now?
