No change in Covid risk index or reproduction number

The national Covid-19 risk index stood at 71 out of 100 on Monday, the fifth day in succession it has been at that number. The index has been in the range for bracket four on the tiered system of restrictions since mid-January but level five measures are in place. The government will not ease restrictions until the number hospitalised with the virus goes down.

The reproduction number, one of the factors used to calculate the index, was 1.05 on Monday, the same as the previous day.

Some 2,415 new Covid cases were registered on Sunday, which was 157 fewer than the same day the previous week.
