New Petřín funicular cars installed

Two new cars for the Petřín funicular, delivered from Switzerland in late March, were placed at stations along the reconstructed line in Prague on Wednesday. Further installation of technology and final adjustments will follow, before test runs without passengers begin, scheduled to last until the end of June. Passenger service is expected to resume in September, pending final operational approval.

The new cars were produced by the Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group based on a design by Czech studio Anna Marešová designers. Each car can accommodate up to 120 passengers, with greater comfort for wheelchair users and passengers with prams. Its panoramic windows will offer spectacular views of Prague’s skyline from Petrin Hill.
