New design selected for Ještěd cable car

Liberec councilors have selected the design of the cabins for the new Ještěd cable car. The winning design, created by designer Anna Marešová, features a glass window in the floor and a special lighting effect that creates a visual impression of a UFO landing on the top of Ještěd. The new cable car will replace the one that collapsed in a tragic accident in 2021, killing an employee. The cable car to Ještěd, with a history of more than 90 years, has been out of service since, and the new one is not expected to go into operation before 2029.
