New Covid cases figure for Friday down on previous week

Some 13,074 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the Czech Republic on Friday, around 1,700 fewer than the figure for the same day last week.

The total number of registered cases to date has now passed 1.3 million, though experts say that the actual figure may be two or three times higher.

The number of people hospitalised with the virus remains high at over 8,200. Of that number 1,700 are in a critical condition.

To date there have been 21,588 registered Covid deaths in the Czech Republic.
