Nearly half of Czech renters face higher housing costs, survey finds

Nearly half of Czech tenants have seen their rent increase over the past year, according to a Generali Investments survey of more than 1,000 respondents. Four in ten expect further increases, while a quarter say they cannot afford to pay more. Rising costs have forced one in seven tenants to move into smaller accommodation over the past three years. In Prague, a monthly rent of 20,000 crowns now typically secures a 43-square-metre apartment, compared with 83 square metres five years ago. Almost a third of tenants would consider moving again if rents continued to rise.
