Museum dedicated to Holocaust survivors officially opens in former Schindler factory

To mark the eightieth anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe, a museum dedicated to survivors of the Holocaust had its official opening on Saturday, housed in a former factory once owned by Oskar Schindler in Brněnec in the Svitavy area. During World War II, the factory produced ammunition and became a branch camp of the Gross-Rosen concentration camp.

For the ceremonial opening, a permanent exhibition was installed in one of the factory halls, having previously been located in Villa Tugendhat in Brno. The daughter of Thomas Keneally, author of the book Schindler's List, was present and gave part of her father's manuscript to the museum. The Museum of Survivors will only be accessible occasionally for now, offering tours on several days this year, announced Milan Šudoma, manager of the Schindler's Ark project.
