MPs to vote on commission into Zeman presidency affairs

A proposal to establish a commission of inquiry into various affairs at Prague Castle during the term of former president Miloš Zeman is set to go before the Chamber of Deputies, the Czech News Agency reported.

The commission should look into the exercise of the president’s powers by his office in matters relating to national security and foreign policy between 2013 and this year.

Christian Democrat MP Šimon Heller, who is among the initiators of the move, said deputies should consider the matter in a lower house session that begins in late June.

The proposal states that machinations by representatives of the Office of the President had led to unprecedented reputational damage to that institution.
