Ministry halts subsidies for Prague-Motol hospital over corruption case

The Czech Health Ministry has suspended subsidies worth billions of crowns for Prague-Motol University Hospital amid a corruption investigation, waiting for further information from the police and the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO), ministry spokesman Jan Rezabek told Czech Radio. The case involves projects funded by both Czech and EU budgets, including a 3.7 billion crown oncology center and energy efficiency improvements for the hospital’s Blue Pavilion. The police have charged 17 individuals with bribery, subsidy fraud, and money laundering, including hospital director Miloslav Ludvik and executives from the Geosan Group construction firm.
