Meteorologists warn of rising river levels in parts of Czechia

Meteorologists have expanded an earlier warning about rising river levels in parts of Czechia. The increase is expected mainly in eastern Bohemia from Sunday evening, the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute informed.

Rivers in some areas could reach the lowest flood alert level. However, water is not expected to overflow riverbanks, though faster runoff and waterlogged soil could weaken the stability of trees.

The warning applies to parts of the Vysočina and South Bohemian regions as well as areas in the Central Bohemian, Pardubice, Hradec Králové and Liberec regions.

A separate warning for freezing rain remains in effect until Sunday afternoon, mainly in the Olomouc region.
