Menšík falls in Doha semi-final, Kopřiva reaches last four in Rio

Czech tennis player Jakub Menšík will not play for the title in Doha after losing his semi-final to France’s Arthur Fils 6–4, 7–6. The defeat came a day after the 20-year-old’s upset win over world number two Jannik Sinner.

Menšík missed the chance to reach the fourth final of his career and fight for a third title, but he is still set to rise to a career-high ranking of around 13th in the world.

Meanwhile, fellow Czech Vít Kopřiva has reached the semi-finals of the tournament in Rio de Janeiro after beating Argentina’s Juan Manuel Cerúndolo 6–4, 6–4. He will next face Tomás Martín Etcheverry for a place in the final.
