Macinka: as long as Russia attacks Ukraine, there is no reason to ease sanctions
As long as the war continues and Russia keeps attacking Ukraine, there is no reason to soften sanctions against Moscow, Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka (Motorists' Party) said ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels. The ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine is one of the main topics on the agenda. The European Union is preparing its 20th sanctions package, nearly four years after the start of the war. Macinka said sanctions remain an important tool for exerting pressure on Russia. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha is expected to brief ministers via video link on the situation on the ground and Kyiv’s current needs, including support for the country’s energy infrastructure.
