Macinka to discuss Greenland with Danish diplomats, hears out US stance

Foreign Minister Petr Macinka (Motorists) plans to discuss the situation around Greenland with Danish diplomats, following talks with US representatives. Macinka said he had already heard the American position and now wants to learn Denmark’s view, including at an upcoming EU foreign ministers’ meeting. The issue has been raised by remarks from US President Donald Trump, who suggested Washington might seek control of Greenland for security reasons. Denmark and Greenland have firmly rejected the idea, stressing the island is not for sale. Prague says it prefers dialogue over declarations, while several European countries have voiced collective support for Danish and Greenlandic sovereignty.
