Lower house sets date for special session on Babiš conflict of interest

The Chamber of Deputies will hold an extraordinary session on Thursday, 27 November, to address  the conflict of interest of the country’s likely next prime minister, ANO leader Andrej Babiš. The head of the Chamber, Tomio Okamura announced the date in response to a request by parliamentary groups from the outgoing government coalition. Babiš has not yet revealed how he plans to deal with the situation, stressing that he will not take any irreversible steps regarding his conflict-of-interest status unless he has certainty that President Petr Pavel intends to appoint him prime minister. Responding to citizens’ questions on Instagram, he repeated that should he become head of government, he will resolve the matter in line with European and Czech law.
