Lipavský: Trump–Putin phone call brought no real progress on Ukraine

The phone call between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin brought no significant breakthrough on Ukraine, said Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský (non partisan). “Russia hasn't budged on its demands,” he told Czech Television. Vice PM Vít Rakušan also remained skeptical, pointing out that Russia could accept a 30-day ceasefire without preconditions. The leaders agreed only to halt attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Despite this, Russian strikes reportedly resumed shortly after. The opposition Freedom and Direct Democracy Party leader Tomio Okamura, by contrast, welcomed the talks and expressed hope for further negotiations toward peace.
