Lawsuits concerning candidate lists expected

Organization Volt Czechia plans to file 28 lawsuits with regional courts early next week to annul the candidate lists of Freedom and Direct Democracy and Enough! (Stačilo!) parties for October’s parliamentary elections, if they are registered. Volt co-chair Adam Hanka says the groups are “undeclared coalitions” evading a higher electoral threshold, undermining fair competition. Freedom and Direct Democracy includes members of Trikolóra, the Free Citizens Party and PRO, while Enough! (Stačilo!) unites communists and social democrats. Volt will not sue over Pirate Party lists, which include Greens, citing smaller influence. Constitutional and legal experts say such arrangements are not illegal under current law.
