Kvitová seeks first post-maternity win at Madrid Open

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitová will take another shot at her first victory since returning from maternity leave as she faces American Katie Volynets at the Madrid Open today. The 35-year-old Czech player, now ranked outside the top tier, has yet to win a match since rejoining the WTA Tour in late February following the birth of her son. She lost opening matches in Austin, Indian Wells, and Miami. Kvitová, a three-time champion in Madrid, begins her clay court season after a month-long break. This will be her first meeting with world No. 70 Volynets.
