Krejčíková advances to second round of tennis tournament in Cincinnati after win over Parks

Czech tennis player Barbora Krejčíková battled past American Alycia Parks 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 to reach the second round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati. The victory, her first since Wimbledon, came after a two-hour match in which the Czech player saw early leads slip in the first two sets before dominating the decider. In the next round, world No. 80 Krejčíková will face Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina, the 13th-ranked player and tenth seed, whom she has beaten in both their previous meetings on clay.
