Judges and prosecutors ready to take salary-freeze to court
Judges and prosecutors are protesting against a government-imposed salary freeze for constitutional officials –including politicians, judges, prosecutors and the president. They say that if the bill is not rejected by the Senate or vetoed by President Zeman they will file a Constitutional complaint against it. The cabinet approved the freeze in view of the state of public finances. However, the minister for legislation, Michal Šalomoun, warned the administration that the freezing of judges and prosecutors salaries could be in violation of the constitutional order.
