Jeseníky Mountain rescue service calls avalanche alert

The mountain rescue service in Jeseníky Mountains has called a third degree avalanche alert on a five point scale. Strong wind and up to thirty centimetres of fresh snow over the past couple of days are reported to have created a highly unstable surface on many slopes. Snowfall is expected to last across most of the country until Thursday midnight. Drivers have been warned to expect snow drifts in the higher altitudes and on less frequented roads.
