Italian port blocks trucks with weapons bound for Israel, reportedly from Czechia
The Italian port of Ravenna has refused entry to two trucks reportedly carrying weapons for Israel. According to the news site Il Post, the cargo consisted of explosives likely produced in Czechia.
Mayor Alessandro Barattoni said the port authority acted on his request and that of the Emilia-Romagna region to deny the trucks access to the terminal. The shipment was reportedly headed for the Israeli port of Haifa aboard a vessel operated by ZIM, Israel’s largest shipping company
Barattoni did not confirm the origin of the containers or provide evidence of their contents. The move reflects growing opposition in Italy to Israel’s offensive in Gaza.
