International Conference on Religious Liberty ends
An international conference entitled "Religious Liberty and the Ideology of the State" has just come to an end in Prague. Sponsored by the Washington DC-based Becket Fund for Religious Liberty and the Oxford Becket Institute, the conference dealt with such issues as the nature of religious liberty, state-imposed religion and the challenges and promises of the 21st Century. Olga Szantova talked to some of the participants.
I asked the Becket Fund's vice president of communications Patrick S. Korten why the organisers had chosen Prague as the venue for the conference. The conference discussed the situation of churches and religions in various parts of the world, and the exchange of experience was very valuable to all participants, including the Czech churches, as the president of the Czech Christian Academy, Prof. Tomas Halik told Radio Prague.
