Iconic Czech rock band Lucie celebrates 40 years with epic tour
Fans flock to see rock legends Lucie live as the band marks its 40th anniversary with a huge nationwide tour, promising their most spectacular shows yet.
Founded in 1985 by singer-guitarist Robert Kodym and bass player Petr Chovanec (P.B.CH), Lucie became one of the most successful Czech bands of the post-communist era. Hits like Medvídek (“Little Bear”), Panic (“Virgin”), and Amerika are instantly recognisable to most Czechs and are even sung at campfires across the country.
Lucie released their debut single Pár fíglů (“A Few Tricks”) in 1988, followed by their first album in 1990, which quickly brought them widespread recognition. Over the years, the band has released eight studio albums, with EvoLucie in 2018 being the most recent.
The anniversary tour blends Lucie’s past and present, showcasing classic hits alongside new songs from their upcoming ninth album, R.A.D.O.S.T. (“J.O.Y”), expected in 2026. This will be the first album with new vocalist Viktor Dyk, who replaced David Koller, and drummer Štěpán Smetáček.
“After months of preparation, planning, and rehearsals, we can’t wait to take the stage and share it all with our fans,” said Michal Dvořák, the band’s keyboard player and manager. The tour kicked off on November 8 at Ostrava’s Ostravar Aréna, with the band performing on the largest stage in its history, featuring levitating musicians and a spectacular light show.
The tour will continue in Brno on November 29, with two shows in Prague on 9 and 10 December, and wraps up in Plzeň on 19 December. Each concert will be opened by the energetic rock trio Doctor Victor, with additional performances by special guests such as singer Lenny, former Lucie members Michal Penk, Tomáš Waschinger, and Petr Franc, along with other birthday surprises.
With its mix of legendary songs, fresh material, and star-studded guests, Lucie’s 40th-anniversary tour promises an unforgettable experience for fans, both old and new.
