Ice hockey play-offs begin with Sparta Prague leading Trinec 2:0

The biggest sports story here in the Czech Republic has to be the plays-offs in the ice hockey Extraliga. The play-offs began at the weekend and are set to continue for another four weeks. Sparta Prague's opponents in the four-game quarter-finals are Trinec, and Sparta made good use of their home advantage in the first two games by winning 5:1 on Saturday and 6:4 on Sunday to take a 2:0 lead. Sparta must be favourites to win the play-offs, having won the first stage of the Extraliga so convincingly.
