Havlíček: Future government coalition agrees on Czechia’s firm anchorage in EU and NATO
The future government coalition of ANO, the Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) party, and the Motorists’ Party has agreed that Czechia’s firm membership in the EU and NATO will be clearly stated in their joint policy statement, ANO deputy chairman Karel Havlíček said. Any future referendum will exclude questions about the country’s geopolitical alignment, he added. Motorists’ MP Filip Turek, mentioned as a possible foreign minister, emphasized strong transatlantic relations, particularly with the United States and Israel. SPD leader Tomio Okamura welcomed the deal allowing referenda on some international commitments but excluding EU and NATO membership.
