Government approves Czech astronaut's space mission

The government has approved the space mission of Czech astronaut Aleš Svoboda to the International Space Station (ISS), at the cost of two billion crowns which is to be spread over three years. According to the government the investment will boost the Czech economy, science and education. The mission should take place in late 2027 and early 2028.  The state will cover the two-billion-crown cost through an increased contribution to the European Space Agency (ESA) between 2025 and 2027.
