Giant glass skeleton made in Železný Brod to hang in Prague's Máj department store
Glassmakers from Studio Lhotský in Železný Brod have crafted a five-meter-long, 800-kilogram glass skeleton for Prague’s Máj department store. Suspended above a bar on steel cables, the striking blue-glass sculpture took ten months to complete, including two months just to melt and cool the 200-kilogram skull. Studio founder Zdeněk Lhotský described the process as extremely complex, using ancient casting techniques revived in the 20th century. The piece consists of 37 handcrafted parts and may be the largest glass skeleton in the world. Installation will begin at the end of March and continue into April, with lighting to enhance the dramatic effect.
