Former artistic director of Karlovy Vary Film Festival Eva Zaoralová dies at 89
The respected Czech film critic and translator Eva Zaoralová has died at the age of 89. Zaoralová was for many years the artistic director of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival which she helped to turn into a widely respected international event after the fall of communism. Even after she resigned from the post for health reasons, she remained closely tied to the festival and continued to actively contribute to its programming in her capacity as artistic advisor. Zaoralová has received numerous domestic and international awards for her longtime activities not only with the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, but also for her work as a film critic and translator.
