Foreign Minister discusses Czech support of Ukrainian refugees with UN Commissioner
UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi met with Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský in Prague on Monday to discuss the Czech Republic’s support of Ukrainian refugees, the Czech News Agency reported. Mr. Lipavský informed the High Commissioner about the country’s support of Ukrainian refugees after the Russian military invasion and humanitarian aid in Ukraine itself. Mr. Grandi publicly thanked the government and the residents for their extraordinary generosity.
The pair also spoke about preparations for the upcoming winter period, which they described as a major challenge for humanitarian organisations, given that many houses have been destroyed and fuel for heating is needed. They also discussed the future reconstruction of Ukraine in connection with the forthcoming Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
