FM Macinka: Czechia wants to normalize ties with China
Foreign Minister Petr Macinka (Motoristé) says the Czech government wants to normalize relations with China to the level of other European countries, mainly to support Czech exporters. Speaking on TV Nova, he said Czechia should remain cautious but should avoid giving Beijing the impression that it supports Taiwan’s independence. Macinka also criticized Senate speaker Miloš Vystrčil’s (ODS) recent visit to Taiwan, saying it was not a neutral trip. Opposition leader Vít Rakušan (STAN) argued that good relations with Taiwan are pragmatic, pointing to Taiwanese investments in Czechia and warning of Chinese cyberattacks and espionage risks.
