FM Lipavský in Ukraine: Russian aggression has brought serious violations of humanitarian law

The ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine has brought immense human suffering and serious violations of international humanitarian law, Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský (Spolu) said on Tuesday at the conference on international law and the 76th anniversary of the adoption of the Geneva Conventions in Kyiv. The minister received a medal for his support for Ukraine and diplomatic efforts from his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha‎.

An alert was declared in the Ukrainian capital overnight due to Russian attacks and Mr. Lipavský had to seek shelter. "It has been valid since March 11th that Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire. Russia has not reflected on this, so this night was actually nothing exceptional," said the minister. In addition to negotiations with the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, the head of Czech diplomacy is also expected to meet with other political representatives.
