FM: Czechia supports Moldova’s entry into EU
The Czech Republic supports Moldova’s efforts to join the European Union, Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský said after a meeting with his Moldovan counterpart Nicolae Popescu on Thursday. Mr Lipavský added that this will also be one of the priorities during the Czech Republic’s presidency of the EU Council in the second half of this year.
Moldova, along with Georgia, applied for EU membership on March 3, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Foreign Minister Popescu said that his country has filled out the EU questionnaire and expects a reply from the European Commission during the first half of June. A key factor will be the results of talks between member states on the EU Council.
