Czech and Australian foreign ministers meet in Prague

Australia’s Foreign Minister Marise Payne is visiting Prague this Wednesday, where she met with her Czech counterpart Jan Lipavský. Aside from bilateral cooperation, the two heads of diplomacy also discussed the current situation in Eastern Europe and Russian aggression in the region. Ms Marise said that Australia supports its partners within the EU and Nato and wants Russia to pay a high price.

According to the Czech Foreign Ministry, the meeting with Ms Payne highlights Czechia’s interest in the indo-pacific region which is one of the priorities of the Czech EU Council presidency that will take place in the second half of 2022.

It is the first visit to Czechia by an Australian foreign minister in 17 years.
