Fiala: Czech ammunition initiative for Ukraine must continue

Outgoing Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said after the EU summit in Brussels that the Czech Ammunition Initiative for Ukraine should definitely continue. He discussed the issue again on Friday during a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. Fiala, leader of the Civic Democrats (ODS), called the initiative “a very successful project” that helps Ukraine counter Russia’s military advantage. He warned it would be a “huge mistake” for the next Czech government to abandon it. The initiative, supported mainly by the Netherlands and Denmark, provides Ukraine with artillery ammunition, including from non-EU countries, and could deliver up to 1.8 million shells this year.
