Fallen Fruit wins Crystal Globe at Karlovy Vary film festival

The Czech co-produced film Fallen Fruit has won the Crystal Globe at the 60th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. The debut feature by Myanmar director Aung Phyoe explores queer desire and the search for intimacy in contemporary Myanmar, where love between women remains socially unacceptable. The festival's top prize comes with 25,000 dollars. French actress Juliette Binoche received a Crystal Globe for outstanding artistic contribution to world cinema, while Magda Vášáryová and Jeffrey Wright received festival president's awards. The audience prize went to Helena Třeštíková's documentary about Czech singer Bára Basiková.
