Fact-check: claim that Czechia is a private company is false

Claims circulating online allege that UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated Czechia is not a sovereign state but a private company registered in London. These claims are entirely false, confirmed Stanislav Balík, dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of West Bohemia. Czechia was established on January 1, 1993, following the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia, recognized internationally, including by Germany, Austria, and Poland. Czechia is a full UN member and adheres to international law. A London-registered company named "Czech Republic Ltd." has no ties to the state.
