Expert: half of Czech companies ignore sustainability data requirements

Half of the 1,900 Czech companies required to collect data on their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) impacts by January 1, 2025, have yet to address this obligation, according to sustainability reporting firm Green0meter. The data collection is crucial to comply with the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), mandating companies to disclose non-financial information starting in 2026. Green0meter founder Karel Kotoun warns that preparing a sustainability report can take up to six months, and non-compliance could lead to fines of up to 3% of a company’s assets. The rules will initially apply to larger companies, with smaller firms following in 2027.
