Eva Přáda’s path in biophysical chemistry and the future of pharmaceutical research
From Cambridge labs to groundbreaking research in Vienna, Eva Přáda is a Czech biophysical chemist using science to address everyday problems. In the latest episode of Science Without Borders, discover how her international journey, powered by top scholarships and global collaborations, is influencing the future of pharmaceutical research.
Eva Přáda is a biophysical chemist whose work bridges the gap between academic research and real-world pharmaceutical development. Thanks to scholarships from the Bakala Foundation and the Krsek Foundation, she pursued her PhD at the University of Cambridge, where she collaborated with companies like AstraZeneca on peptide-based drugs used in diabetes and obesity treatment. Today, as a postdoctoral researcher at TU Wien, she focuses on enzyme production and protein refolding—processes that are key to making biologically active drugs both stable and effective.
But for Eva, science is not only about molecules. It’s also about opportunity—about learning how to solve problems, work independently, and build international collaborations. While she enjoys working in Vienna, she’s open to returning to Czechia to contribute her skills and experience to local research.
